Just as the title suggest our cosplay club had a sewing meet today to encourage us to work on our cosplays. This was my first chance to sew since quitting my sewing class and as I don't have my own sewing machine, today was the first time I'd sewn in a while.

I'd been meaning to stop by an internet cafe first to print out some reference pictures as I don't have a printer and my flatmates one doesn't have ink. They were closed so had to go back and do it after we chose our fabric. )= But I go them in the end. ^^

Because I ran out of time to find a pattern (Hey it was my first time choosing fabric so naturally I took a while as I didn't know what to look for) I had to make one for my skirt. My progress was slow, I had to be given a lot of help as I still don't know much and I didn't finish it but hey at least I got most of it done. =) Oh well at least I'm making a start on my Nelliel Tu Odershvank cosplay so that's a good thing, I'm finally making a cosplay for myself, yay! ^_^

Tonight while dining at my favourite Japanese restaurant I met some cosplayers from our club. We had dinner together then we hired out a Japanese karaoke booth. They even had some of the cosplay dances which we danced to. ^_^ There weren't very many songs there that I knew or was confident enough to try anyway but I did do one of them.

It's funny because I used to be very confident in my singing, so much so that I used to perform at concerts, choirs, even solo. However that was a very long time ago and I stopped taking singing lessons years ago, maybe I should take them up again, it's something I'm good at after all. ^_^

I've never been to a Japanese karaoke bar before, it was fun especially with people that I know and love, I'll have to go again one day! ^_^

Poor Tori got it the worst and had to be hospitalized as she has a weak immune system. )= Thankfully, however everyone seems to be recovering which is good. =) Lennon, Ryan and I were the only ones who didn't get sick. Ryan because he only spent part of weekend with us, Lennon has a good immune system and I think I built up some resistance from being sick the week before. :O I'm just glad everyone is getting better. ^_^

Today I went see the new Harry Potter movie with a friend, I liked the ending although I should've guessed it was Snape all along. The movie was not much different from all the others really, I think I'm definitely over the whole Harry Potter thing now. -_-

We went shopping and I got a new digital camera, it's pink too, my favourite colour and best of all it was a gift! 8D This is awesome, I've been wanting one of these for such a long time, I am so sick of disposable cameras. I can't wait to take lots of photos and make videos, I'm going to have fun with this! ^_^

Lucy went in her Suppi costume which I found ironic as I'm currently watching Cardcaptors. xD Angie was really cute in her Charmander costume too. ^_^

We had lunch in the Dunedin botanical gardens although it was rather wet and cold so we had sit on benches under shelter. We had time for one ore quick photoshoot before the Christchurch people started on our journey back home.

However some people seem to be getting sick, I'm fine so far but I will have to be careful, especially at this time of year and with the swine flu epidemic.
The next morning we had to wake up Matt which turned out to be no easy task, it took ages but we finally succeeded and got it on film too. :P

On our second day in Dunedin, we went to the chocolate festival being held there. There wasn't a lot to do but it was interesting and we got free chocolate! ^_^ We also got our picture taken by the local newspaper too but that's hardly surprising with such a large flashmob in such a small city. =P

After that we had a photoshoot at the railway station. Next we visited the Chinese gardens which were amazing, they were so beautiful! :O Made for some really cool photoshoots too. ;) We had tea in the tearooms and bought some giants fans for souvenirs of our trip and when I say big I mean they are half the size I am! =O

That evening it was another gaming marathon with pizza for dinner. More dying at Lennon's hands at DOA ensued as did kicking his ass at the Bleach and KI games in return. (I got to play with Gin again, yay! ♥) ^_~ Next I played "Left for dead" with Angie which went well until we had to board the helicopter. I couldn't get on because I was being swarmed with zombies! D8 Angie told me to just push pastthem but I couldn't they were in my way so I started shooting at them instead. There were too many of them and I died in a sea of zombies. T_T Angie died not long after in the next level, I'm sorry Angie! D= But we did get a good way through the game, I think I did alright for my first time playing and it was fun. ^_^ Eventually though we had to put the games away and go to bed as we still had one more day in Dunedin ahead of us.

No, this title is not a random mash of letters, lol, it actually stands for "Epic journey to bring the joy of cosplay to Dunedin". Basically the Christchurch cosplayers thought it was about time to show the Dunedin cosplayers how it's done by invading their city for the weekend! xD

Lucy and Matt greeted us at the Dunedin highway with the most epic welcome ever, a slow motion version of "Chariots of fire" lol. I still can't believe you guys got lost on the highway of your own city! xD

Finally there we played in Timezone before dining at the mall, attracting many stares from the locals as we were all in cosplay, lol. This is where Matt demonstrated how to get his camera:

"Reach down under the table, grab it and pull it out"

The famous quote that had us in fits of laughter all weekend because nobody realized (Except for a couple of people) that he was talking about his camera at the time so it sounded really dodgy. xD

As it was getting dark we went to Signal hill for some beautiful sunset photos and played 'Chase the butterfly'. Remember that scene from Bleach with Hanataro and the butterfly? Well, Angie was cosplaying him and had a (Fake) butterfly on a stick which we all chased after, Benny Hill style. 8D

Back at Lucy, Lennon and Ryan's flat, we were staying we played video games until late in the night. Lennon was nearly impossible to beat at "Dead or alive" probably because he wouldn't let me get up again after knocking me to the ground! D8< But I kicked his ass soundly at "Bleach blade battlers" and "Killer Instinct Gold" hehe. =P This is because I used to play KI all the time in arcades, the Bleach game I'd never played before, must be natural talent. ^_~ The best part was getting to play as Ichimaru Gin in "Bleach battlers" ♥, my favourite character in Bleach, yay! ^_^ It's not a good idea to play with Ishida Uryuu though, not because he's not good, quite the opposite, he pwns everyone. Because all you have to do is stand back and let loose of a rain of arrows on everyone then run away. xD But that makes everyone gang up on you, hence why it's not the best idea to play him in multiplayer games. Dx We played Mario karts too which was really funny, everyone loved that game. It was a good night. ^_^

Just a few short hours ago our cat, Smokey was alive. Now she is dead and I am traumatized for life. T_T

This afternoon, the two dogs next door were barking as usual but in addition to that they were also whining (Something which they never do) and I could hear this strange scrabbling sound. I went outside to investigate but I could see nothing but Smokey sitting on the railing of our porch. Not knowing what the strange sounds were I dismissed it and went back inside. About 15 minutes later I heard what sounded like a cat and dog fight followed by a horrible screech that sounded all too familiar. I looked out my window and saw a sight that I will never forget. Smokey was hanging limply in the mouth of a big black labrador and the brute was shaking her from side to side.

I tore out the door and ran at the two dogs, yelling and waving my arms, causing them to release her and run away. Smokey was still alive but I could tell she was in pain and having trouble breathing. Running back into the house, I woke up my flatmate, Ben, who carried her inside and laid her on the couch. We rang the vet but sadly she passed away while we were on the phone. The poor girl, she didn't stand a chance. T_T

By this time, the old lady who lives in the house in front of us and her daughter had come to see what all the commotion was about. They helped us catch the golden lab who seemed pretty docile but left the black one alone as he seemed wary and we didn't know how he was going to react. I couldn't bring myself to touch the dogs at all. They called the neighbours, who came and collected the dogs. I let Ben deal with them as being so emotional I probably would've blown up at them, I heard they were pretty apologetic.

We called Ben's mother to let her know what happened, who immediately came over, then we proceeded to ring animal control. We found out that the dogs had gotten onto our property by digging a hole under the fence. Animal control took statements then went to talk to the neighbours to deal with the situation.

Ben and his mother went to her property to bury Smokey, I opted not to go with them as I've already buried one cat in my lifetime and don't fancy doing it again. Besides I'm a complete and utter mess right now anyway, I am still shaking and I cannot get the visions of what I saw out of my head.

Fuck you, you stupid fucking dogs!!! How DARE you come onto our property and kill our poor innocent cat who never did a damn thing to you?! She was minding her own business when you trespassed on our property and fucking killed her, for no fucking reason at all! FUCK YOU!!! I FUCKING HATE YOU!!! Thanks to you, our cat is dead and I am traumatized for life! I did NOT need to see that and I will NEVER be able to get that sight out of my head, I will never be able to forget this! DX<

This has to be one of the most horrible things that I have ever experienced in my whole life. I should've realized what the scrabbling sound was, if I had then maybe Smokey would still be alive. I can't help but wonder if maybe I could've done something differently, something to save her. I should have bought her inside ... or something ... dammit! >_<

I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy, nobody should have to see something like that. I don't know how I am going to get over this, I really don't. I can only take consolation in the fact Smokey is now dead and doesn't have to suffer any longer.

R.I.P Smokey. You didn't deserve to die that way. We will miss you.

I really loved the actor who played Spock, he was gorgeous and executed Spock's character really well. I love how they portrayed him as the Spock of the past and not the vulcan that is today because when he first joined the Enterprise he was quite different from later on in the series and they took that into account. The film was breathtaking and quite stunning, I'm glad I went to see it. ^_^

After the movie finished we went out for dinner and I was given some late birthday presents.
Our cosplay club turned one year old today so we threw a party to celebrate! 8D We had a bunch of games and the first one of the night was Pass the parcel which I won! =D But instead of a prize, there was just a piece of cardboard that said "You win!" on it, that's really mean you guys! *Glares at club mods* D8 Well actually it turned out there was a prize, I got to go last in the Present game. xD That may not seem like much of a prize but it is, because of the way that the Present game works.

Everyone sits in a circle with a pile of presents in the middle. Each person can choose to either take a present from the middle or steal someone elses. The great thing about going last is that nobody can steal your present, I chose to steal these really cool finger laser lights. >8D

Then we played Balloon volleyball only we had no net so we had two teams lined up on two rows of chairs facing each other. The object was to get as many balloons over the other teams heads as possible but without your bum leaving the seat. xD Our team won, yay. 8D

The next game, Human battleships was exactly as it sounds . xD First, several (Collapsible)tables were turned on their sides and lined up to create a makeshift wall. Then we were divided into two teams, one on either side of each wall and were given an equal number of mini beanbags each. Basically the idea was to throw the beanbags over the wall, while lying down (So that we couldn't see the other team) and if a beanbag hits you then you're out. The first team to get all the opposing team members out is the winner. During the second game all of my team members got out except for me, leaving me to take out the opposing teams remaining three numbers, talk about uneven odds, thanks a lot guys! D8 But I did it, I got all three of them although the last one, Soon Yi (Sasuke-kun!) took ages to catch, we threw beanbags at each other for what seemed like forever! DX But I won the game, for my team, all by myself because I'm just that awesome and seeing as it was my first time playing that game, I'm damn proud of myself! ^_~

Next we played Concentration and that evil hand game only this time with glowsticks, to my dismay I still haven't improved at it. (The hand game that is). )8

We also did a take on several Disney songs, doing our own special renditions and imitations with hilarious results! 8D

Then it was time for a massive group hug photo which somehow turned into a group glomp then a massive dogpile! xD The idea was to hug the person in front of you which for me was Angie. But then I had a whole row of people hugging me and I just couldn't support all their weight, dominoes/mass orgy anyone?! (Hey that's what it looked like okay!) xD

That and a Scatter run signaled the end of our clubs very first birthday party and a wonderful night!

As soon as my wallet had recovered from both Armageddons, I did something that I have never done before, I ordered doujinshi from the internet. =D Now I know I mentioned buying doujinshi in a previous post but those were from my friend Lucy, not from the internet.

I had been wanting my very own doujinshi for years now but seeing as I didn't have a credit card, ebay or paypal account, that seemed impossible. So up until now I've had to make do with what I found on the internet but I wanted to know what it felt like to buy and own my own doujinshi. Even though I obtained those lovely doujinshi from Lucy, they were mixed pairings. While I loved almost all of them, I was craving some pairings more than others, Gin x Hitsugaya in particular, my own guilty pleasure. ^^

Earlier this year I applied for and got a debit plus card and created my own paypal and ebay account. Now, finally armed with the means to buy my own doujinshi, I took the plunge and ordered a Gin x Hitsugaya doujinshi from ebay.

It arrived today and I am very, very happy with it as it's everything that I wanted and even better than I thought it would be! ^_^ It's called "Love Syrup" by 1LDK/LOVESCYTHE and while I don't know the artist I do recognize the style of art. I deliberately went with this circle because I'd heard they were pretty good (And I have one of Love Scythe's doujinshi on my computer). I'm really glad I did as the artwork is beautiful, the story funny and it has one of the best smut scenes that I have seen. 8D The only downer is that there is another story but it's all in Japanese text and I can't understand it as I can't read Japanese. )= I hope to get it translated one of these days. ^^;

I love this doujinshi and I can't wait to order more, I think I'm hooked! xD

Basically you are given cards with three clues that you have to read out to the other teams who then have to guess what the object is. The funny part is that while the clues are very racy the answer is usually very innocent, lol. Our team came very close to winning but were beaten in the end although only just. )= I think this might be the first birthday party I've been to this year.

Unfortunately Lennon and Meghan were already in the judging for the cosplay contest so we weren't able to see them until later on in the day. )= So we took part in the chocolate hunt instead which is basically just wandering around the stalls looking for the people giving out free chocolate, lol. I spent the rest of the morning watching anime including the first episodes of Code geass and Death note which were just as awesome as the first time I saw them! ^_^ Sometime later while wandering the stalls one of my buttons came of my Ashford academy uniform but was luckily sewn on for me by a kind cosplayer. (Can't handsew) xD

I finally met up with Lennon and Meghan and we took part in the Grand Freeze which was kind of fail as we were all up on the stairs/upstairs stands and I don't think many people saw us, lol. xD Not long after that we watched the eating contests then the cosplay contests. The girl who won it really deserved as she had an awesome WoW cosplay! :o

After going back to the hostel to change and relax for a while, we out for dinner. On the back, along the wharf, we took some photos of the harbour at night which looks really pretty with all the lights. =) Then it was back to the backpackers to spend our last night in Wellington. )=

Wellygeddon and Chchgeddons events tend to be pretty much the same as they are so close together. The main difference being that us Christchurchians tend to make up our own cosplay related stuff like games and such. Even so cosplayers always find something to do no matter where we are and Wellygeddon was no exception.

We gathered on the Wharf for a photoshoot and Angie asked me take some photos of the One piece group with her camera. I very nearly dropped it while walking backwards to fit them all in as the stupid wharf structure we were on was like a raised platform with steps. D8 Guess who fell down them ... backwards, lucky I caught the camera. -_-; I also filmed their dance which was fun to watch and posed for a few photos myself. :) Although we all probably spent more time chasing Angie's (Who was Luffy) hat that kept blowing of in the wind, good thing it didn't fall in the water! xD Then we headed back for a mass caramelldancin and cosplay battle.

Then we headed back for a mass caramelldancin and cosplay battle.
Not long after we watched the eating contests (Didn't get chosen this time) and entered the Kamehameha contest despite having almost lost our voices doing the exact same thing in Chch. xD We also watched the Amv contest and I finally got the "I Love Yaoi" T-shirt that they had sold out of at Chchgeddon. :)

In the evening we went to a VA dinner although sadly our VA couldn't make it :( Lennon and Meghan walked me there so I wouldn't get lost and upon arriving went off to find a different restaurant to eat at. Funnily enough they ended up at our restaurant as every other place they went too had been full, lol. While it was nice dining with friends, I would've enjoyed it more if I had been feeling better and not ordered a rather bland, fatty meal. /: Today was okay, with some fun moments albeit a little dull, hopefully tomorrow will be a little more exciting.

Lennon, Meghan and I were meant to meet up with Wissy for a Code Geass cosplay photoshoot but Wissy ended up pulling out due to some costume problems. :( We decided to go ahead with it anyway with Lennon cosplay as Zero, Meghan as Kallen and myself as Milly Ashford. We got a lot of cool photos and had quite a bit of fun walking along the wharf plus we had something cool happen to us.

Now the Venue for Armageddon this year is on the wharf so while passing by there we ran into Bill who is the organiser. The Dominion post was there doing a photoshoot/story on Armageddon (Even though it doesn't start until tomorrow, lol)and we got asked to pose for some photos with Micheal Winslow, I kid you not! He was so cool and cracked us up with his amazing skills! 8D And this straight after the Christchurch mail took my photo too! 8D

For dinner, Lennon and I meet up with Wissy and her two sisters and we went to a Teppanyaki restaurant, a first for me, surprising given how much I love Japanese food. They make a game out of the meal by throwing the food at you and you have to try and catch it! xD I only just managed to catch my egg before it rolled of my lap and onto the ground, caught the rice bowl perfectly and completely missed the cooked egg later on, every single time! xD Oh well at least I caught something, not too bad for a first try. ;)Those Japanese sure know how to entertain as well as cook great food, lol.

On the way back we stopped at Timezone, beat him at Air hockey and racing, which is not surprising as I'm good at both games. :P But he up screwed my DDR song (By accident), random song, do not want! especially one THAT fast and crazy! D8 He made up for it by dancing with me to the next song set of my choosing so at least we failed together that time around. xD

Today was fun and I'm looking forward to more fun at Armageddon tomorrow. ^_^

This was the second day of Armageddon today and definitely the best! 8D Why is it that the second day of Geddons is always the best one? Once I had changed from my street clothes into Angie's Naruto costume I transformed into a ramen loving, hyperactive ninja! ^_~ Most of the morning was spent wandering around and posing for photos every 5 seconds. The one problem with cosplaying such a popular character as Naruto is that everybody knows him and I couldn't even go to the bathroom without getting stopped for one reason or another. xD The best part was when the Christchurch mail took my photo, fame and fortune here I come! Lol!

Around noon I met up with some cosplayers I know and we went out for lunch, some games at Timezone, Grand freeze in the square then we headed back and had some epic adventures on the way. First we met two Shippuden cosplayers, Sasuke and Naruto to be exact and we had a lot of fun with them posing for photos and engaging in battle. But the best part was when we met Lucy who was cosplaying a Prinny from the PS2 game, Disagea. This shuttle full of tourists pulls up and door opens to let people off and Lucy says "Welcome to Christchurh dudes!" in her best Prinny voice while the rest of us fell over laughing. xD After stopping for some photo shoots in Victoria park we played some games, not scheduled games to perform in front of an audience like yesterday, just kids games. My favourite was "Octopus" where one person is it and when they tag someone they join hands with them to form a chain to catch more people until everyone is caught and joined together in one big long chain. Of course we did the standard cosplay dances too and other random stuff. ^^

We got back in time to watch the Ice cream eating contest, the ever epic cosplay contest and take some photos. There were a few mishaps in the contest such as wigs falling of and Naruto's pants ripping, not mine, the Shippuden Naruto, poor guy! xD Speaking of photos I think these should sum up just how epic today was!

The best part of the day however was getting mistaken for Angie who wore the Naruto costume yesterday. All day this happened to me as well as getting glomped, hugged, fangirled over and I lost count of how many people took pictures. Not that I mind it was so much fun cosplaying such a well loved and popular character! Armageddon was even more fun this time around with people I know and cosplaying Naruto was much fun that I want to do it again! Dattebayo! ^_^

(Yes another DN character! Lol!). ^_~ As part of the group involved in the cosplay dances and games that were scheduled for later on in the day I had to show up at 9am to practice them. The dress rehearsal went well and after it was over I was free to explore Armageddon, well at least until I was due to perform. ^^

I took the chance to head into town for some photos with Lennon and Lucy who were cosplaying as Zero and Suzaku from Code geass. We got some good ones which I've posted here for everyone to see. :) On the way back we saw a cosplayer get stopped by the police as she was waving a real, yes a real sword around. o.O Not exactly the brightest thing to do in public! D8

Back at Geddon it was time for the cosplay games! =D There were dances performed, including the Hona Sainara dance which I was in, skits and a catwalk which I also took part in. But the most entertaining was the Otaku quiz and wig styling. Four teams of two answered anime/manga/cosplay related questions and for the bonus round they played the Wig styling game. Basically they were given a wig and a picture of the character whose hairstyle they had to create, not as easy as it sounds!

In the sweet and sour eating contest I got chosen for the first time ever for the pizza eating eating contest! It's no easy feat trying to wolf down an entire pizza in a few minutes. The fact that they don't give you anything to drink makes it even harder as it gets difficult to cram it down after the first few slices. I did however manage to stay in character throughout the thing, adopting L's trademark crouch and his unique way of holding things, something which I'm proud of. My feet did not thank me afterwards, making me feel like I was walking on pins and needles! Ow! Dx How does he do that for such extended periods of time?! While I didn't win, I still did pretty good and I'm happy with that. ^_^

Lennon entered the Kamehameha contest along with myself and several other cosplayers and he came up with a way to do it and stay in character. So what would make Lelouch explode his power in a fit of rage? The loss of his beloved sister Nunnally of course! So he proceeded to power up while screaming out her name in anguish to finally release it all in an explosive Kamehameha! Poor guy lost his voice after that, especially as had to do it twice seeing how he got into the finals and all. He didn't win but he did a damn fine job of trying though! xD

We then went and bought some cute anime badges and watched the Amv making contest, the Princess Tutu one was my favourite, absolutely amazing! The music fitted wonderfully and the timing was perfect! Makes me wish I could make Amvs! :o

After Geddon was over we went out for dinner with Queenie chan! ^_^ Our table didn't get to sit with her but we had fun trying to pick up the utensils with our chopsticks. xD Afterwards Lennon, Jen and I went to Timezone for some more games including a session in the photobooth.

Speaking of photos here are today's ones:

Now I'm finally back home and looking forward to another day of Armageddon tomorrow! ^_^

After two weeks of cosplay dance practice and preparations for even longer, it's almost time for Armageddon to hit Christchurch again. =)I was orginally meant to be in two cosplay dances but Angie accidently gave away somebody else's spot to me so she had to give it back to them. I still get to be in my favourite dance though and Angie is lending me her Naruto costume on sunday as well as an L wig on saturday to make up for it! ^_^

Tonight was the pregeddon masquerade ball but I underestimated how long it would take to do the shopping I'd left to the last minute so I didn't start getting ready until it was well under way. Getting ready also took longer than I thought and by the time I got there it had finished. )= Serves me right for being unorganized I suppose. I decided to go and meet the Dunedin cosplayers who were just arriving up the road, I wasn't going to let the evening be a total waste! I caught up with Lennon and Allan, met some cosplayers I didn't know and had a game of multiplayer magic, or at least part of one while I waited for Lennon to settle in. Once he was ready, Lennon, Allan and I set out for an evening of gaming at Timezone.

Lennon and I both died at the hands of Zombies and Allan and I teamed up to beat out some hits on a pretty cool drum playing game. It didn't have the anime theme songs like the one at Auckland did which was a pity but it did have some pretty crazy music, I guess that's what you get for picking songs at random! xD

Sadly I had to go home afterwards, I would've loved to have stayed longer but with the start of Chchgeddon tomorrow I have a big weekend ahead so I'd better get some rest. ^_~

We were meant to have a cosplay outing to the 'Amazing maze made out of maize' today (Try saying that fast 10 times in a row! :P) but it was canceled due to rain and Mandie being sick. I kinda feel bad for Mandie as this is not the first time it's been canceled and she really wanted to go as she went to the effort trying to arrange it and all but hopefully there will be a next time. ^^;

We did end up having a cosplay meeting of sorts mostly consisting of playing games at Timezone, drinking bubble tea and pigging out at Kfc. ^_^ My photos from the SCC and national cosplay day turned out well so I passed them around while we drank our bubble tea. Angie and I had a dance off at Timezone with L (Angie) taking on Misa (Me), Misa fails at Dance, dance revolution. T_T But we got recognized and had our photo snapped by some Japanese girls. Later, everyone piled into the photobooth for the obligatory cosplay photoshoot as we always do. ^_^

While not the outing that we were all hoping for, it was still fun and i must say that I now have a new love of bubble tea! ^_^
